I have now lived in Spain for three months… plus a few days. This past month has been a whirlwind, but also a month of settling into a routine that fits both my new environment and my lifestyle. After all, being in Spain requires a healthy dose of “chilling out,” something that many Americans find very hard to do. Gentle readers, I encourage you to find time in each day to relax. I have made a very conscious effort to do that in my life, and the results have been terrific.
So, you might ask, what has this month brought me? Well, a month ago, I was celebrating Los Tres Reyes Magos, or the Three Kings, whose arrival signals the final days of the Christmas season here in Spain. I left for Senegal not long afterwards to experience a new adventure with my youngest daughter as a guide. I attended a masquerade party, the first in my life, to help celebrate the birthday of a friend from Valencia. I had drinks in a cave (pictures forthcoming!). I have lost 25 pounds from walking and eating better food. I finished my first chapter in my dissertation and the first section of the second chapter. I started working for my job in the States.
In short, life is good right now! I am in that odd place where so much has happened that it seems I have been here for both years and only days. What a wonderful problem to have!
The upcoming month will bring new changes, I am sure! Thanks for following along!
Chris, I am so proud of you and so inspired by you. I can’t believe it’s been three months!!!. Time really goes by fast but I am glad that you are enjoying your new life to 100%. And you are right we have to enjoy the moments of life more and slow down. Can’t wait to see more of your adventures. xoxo Melina.
Thanks so much, Melina! That means a lot coming from someone who has already made a transition like this before. Being here has its good and challenging perpectives, but I am trying to use every minute I can to enjoy this adventure! Besos!
Three months … it goes so fast. Enjoy following your adventures and learning of the wonderful new curtural experiences. Glad you are settling in well. Miss you here in the states though. Hugs from GA, T
