The double-decker bus, or Paris L’Open Tour, is a great way to see so much of a city before deciding where you might actually spend more of your time in the city. With a number of different routes through the city, this is a great way to experience many different views in a very short amount of time. Plus, if something strikes your fancy, you can hop off and wait for the next bus to get back on.

We were very thankful for that feature when we had to leave the bus due to a sudden rainstorm that made sitting in the open air a little challenging. For us, it was time to get off the bus on Avenue des Champs-Élysées, near the Arc de Triomphe. The Arc is an amazing structure, and it was captivating to see up close and understand the commemorative nature of the incredible architecture.
