Gentle readers, as I write this, I am making big plans in my life to take advantage of an opportunity that I could not pass up. As many of you already know, I work at home for a major educational publishing company, writing grants and developing other resources that rely on my experiences from previous work and life adventures. Currently, that job is online as a contractor, and I am very proud of my work and thankful for the opportunity to work virtually for almost two years.
That’s about to change. There is a new journey to begin.
I have accepted a position with the same company as a curriculum specialist in science and math in grades 9 through 12. It’s a position based in the US, with national coverage, so I will be traveling my own country for a change. I am very excited about the opportunity to support students and the teaching and learning process in new ways, and also excited to see more of the United States. This new job truly is a golden opportunity… but there is a price.
With a heavy heart, I am closing up my time here in Spain for now, although I have every intention of returning to Valencia. My experiences here are not over, and I have so much more I want to see in this amazing country. The last [almost] two years have been a significant growth experience for me, and I have made amazing friends here in Valencia. While I don’t know what the future will hold, I do know that Spain is an important part of my history and want it to be a place that I can call home again.
Gentle readers, for you faithful followers, I am definitely not done with this blog. It may change, it may be filled with different kinds of posts, but it is first a journal of my travels and experiences. If it can encourage others to explore like I have, then I will have succeeded in sharing the joy of learning about a new culture.
I still have a few posts left to write about Valencia, so stay tuned. This ride isn’t over yet!
Good luck with your new position. We are on the eve of a trip to Spain where we will spend the majority of the trip just South of Valencia near the beach. This will be our first trip to evaluate Spain as our retirement location.

Adventure for sure! I’m so glad you’ll be able to continue here in the US! The song from Bye Bye Birdie says it best – “I’ve got a lot of livin’ to do!” Congratulations!!
I can’t believe it’s been a month already. I’m still in a little bit of “change shock” but glad to be busy and working with some great people. Hope we can talk in person soon!
Well, I am late to the party but it sounds like you’ve had a great two years. Best of luck in your new venture!
Thanks! It has been a wild ride the last month, and I apologize for the late reply, but I can only handle so many spinning plates at once 🙂
The blog is still going to continue, but I am trying to find the best new focus for my creative attention… stay tuned!
Chris, have you been Assimilated? (Resistance is Futile. 😉
Perhaps I have, Jimmy, perhaps I have. Would I even notice if I had been assimilated? :-0
So funny to find another cwells. My wife and are planning to move to Valencia from Phoenix, Arizona. And guess what, my wife is a grant writer for nonprofit organizations.
