Gentle reader, remember how I mentioned that there was competition? Sometimes there are exhibitions, too, like the two video clips in this post. Approaching midnight, and after taking in some of the incredible light shows set to music, my friends and I happened upon an amazing Flamenco demonstration set to lights from the structures surrounding the stage.
Please forgive the vantage point and the photography. Such serendipitous discovery of images to capture sometimes results in poor video quality. However, if the goal is to share the experience, then I feel I have succeeded. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Although you may not be able to see it, there is a live band playing behind the dancers, and several of the participants are dressed in various costumes of the traditional falleras. Seeing this was a surprise, as it appeared on the walk home through the city. People were dancing in a small park in front of the Cathedral, right next to where there is a large bus depot. Somehow, the location made it a little bit more charming. Kind of “here’s a flat place, I have my castanets, let’s have a dance!” type atmosphere.
Oh I have been away from your blog for a few days (hectic life happening here) and so this morning I’m taking a mini-transport through your posts. Oh how delightful! The light show, the dancing, the fun. Ole 🙂
Exactly! What amazing things to find by just walking on the streets!
Oh Christopher – thank you for taking me away although for just a moment as I reset passwords and deal with portal issues 🙂
Hahahaha…. glad to help! Just wait! It is going to get better next week!
My dear friend, The fact that they are playing with the “castañuelas” does not means it is a Flamenco demostration. Flamenco is a foreing dance in Valencia. What they are dancing is ” Valencia’s Jota” similar to which is played in Aragón. Flamenco is totally diferent. Please travel to Andalucía and you will notice your error. Best.
I stand corrected. Gentle reader, thank you for giving me more information… there is just so much to learn!
